How they got there:
The Texas East state champions arrived in Taylor with a 17-1 record.
They went unbeaten in five games in the eight-team Southwestern
regional tournament in Grand Junction, Colorado. They defeated
the state champions of Texas West (7-2) in the final game), Louisiana
(12-3), Arkansas (16-2) and Colorado (14-5). In the third straight
all-Texas final of the Southwestern regional, El Campo defeated
Lubbock, 7-2. Also in the region were the state champions of New
Mexico, Mississippi and Oklahoma. Entering the World Series, El
Campo has outscored opponents, 160-47. The team's only loss came
nearly a month ago, on July 16. Pitcher Matthew Hamman is 8-0.
Andrew Kinder is 6-1.

History:
This is the first appearance for El Campo in the JLWS, but the
fourth year in a row that a Texas team has represented the USA
Southwest region, which was formed in 2002. The previous representatives
were Sugar Land (2003) and Fort Worth (2004 and 2005). Fort
Worth was 2-2 a year ago. This is the 10th time a team from Texas
has appeared in the series. Teams from Spring, Texas, won the
1991 and 1996 World Series – both representing the USA South region.
