Mural J
W.J. Hefner-Floyd Appling Home
(Circa 1909)

Located on Monseratte Street off Washington Street. This mural depicts a home built in 1909 on Heights Street which continues to be a show place in El Campo today. The grandfather, grandmother and great-aunt of Floyd E Appling, Jr. are pictures in the mural. The little girl is his mother, Marie Hefner Appling. The little dog, Bentley, was added to the mural after he died. This truly is a family portrait spanning 90 years with most descendants still living in El Campo. The building to the right in the mural was built in 1911 by W. J. Hefner. It is the same building the mural is painted on.

Sponsor: F.E. Appling, JR. Family
