The SP railroad once had a spur along the side of the building for loading
the grain. The caricature of R.H. Hancock taken from the local CITIZEN
Newspaper (circa 1910). He was sitting atop one of the mills, and was saying "Eat
a bowl of rice everyday". A favorite parting saying in El Campo is "have
a rice day".
