It is not the biggest, nor the most elaborate, nor even the
most comprehensive you may have seen, but there are no fees, and
you will be intrigued as have visitors from all over America and
many other countries.
The saga of this unique and constantly growing showplace began
with Dr. E. A. Weinheimer, a pioneer physician-surgeon of
El Campo, who provided not only exotic wildlife specimens
which are a central
attraction in the museum, but also the building in which the
museum was originally housed.
In 1978 the El Campo Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture
assembled a group of citizens willing to pledge not only money,
but their time and talents to the museum and the El
Campo Museum of Art, History and Natural History became a reality.
From that beginning, it has never stopped expanding, either
in exhibits, artistry or service to the community.
